Stainless steel may not remain clean forever. There are different formulations and coatings that can be used. For $19.99 I doubt quality stainless steel is being used if at all. If you can imagine black particles floating around your home they would eventually condense on every surface much like dust does. You would be able to see this when you cleaned.
In fact the “impurities” being cleaned from the filter are more or less oxidation created when a heat source (the unit being plugged in) is applied not harmful particles being removed from the air.
This reminds me of those foot pads claiming to pull toxins from your body. The pads do turn brownish black because the pads are filled with iron filings that create rust when combined with perspiration from your foot not because the magic pads are pulling any toxin from your body. Human skin is designed to prevent things getting into your body. It does not work the other way.
Claims of miracle cures from cheap devices are only marketed to part you with your money.
All you are actually buying is an expensive night light.
Paid $30 for mine at Walmart and I don’t see or notice I should say any improvement. I use it in the room of the apartment that I smoke in and I have not seen a reduction in the smell of ? smoke. Plugged in for a month now and I wiped down the filter and there was no”particals” at all ⚠️????
